While there are plenty of Hanukkah decorations on the market, there are very few I actually want to buy. Seriously, why are most of them just cardboard printouts of cartoon-looking dreidels? This year, I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own decorations. This decision took me down a rabbit hole of lots and lots of time spent on Pinterest. I eventually landed on a theme: crafts featuring gelt! I love chocolate and all things gold, so it was a no-brainer.
Here are three of the best gelt-themed Hanukkah crafts online. Not only are they extra cute, but they’re also all extra easy.
1. Gelt Garland
Why should Christmas get all the garland? Rita, the blogger behind Design Megillah, makes these strands using plastic coins, which she picked up at a party store. Because she used plastic gelt instead of chocolate, she was able to use hot glue and can pack the decorations away to be pulled out year after year. I love how pretty the gelt looks in the light — and I love that Rita also sells a ready-made option in her Etsy shop for $25!

2. Gelt Table Runner
This table runner requires a lot of empty gelt wrappers (darn, I guess I’ll have to stuff my face with an inappropriate amount of chocolate!), but once you’ve carefully peeled off the wrappers, the rest of the project is just positioning and glueing. If you don’t want to eat (or buy) a ton of gelt, just make a smaller runner or even a few coasters.

3. Gelt and Dreidel Vase
I wasn’t kidding when I said these crafts were easy. For this one, you literally just have to mix up a handful of colorful dreidels with some gelt and pour it into a glass vase. It’s playful! It’s colorful! It’s impossible to mess up!
