If you thought the New York Yankees were favorites to beat the Houston Astros and win the World Series after signing Giancarlo Stanton, they just upped their chances after signing of Neil Walker. Per reports from Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Walker signed a one year, $4 million contract plus incentives. Reports from both Bryan Hoch and Jack Curry(MLB.com/Yes Network) say the deal is still pending a physical, however, the incentives are based on plate appearances. If Walker can make 500 plate appearances, he’ll be able to earn $500,000 next season. Signing Walker at a discounted rate is another result of the slow-moving free agent market. Walker made $17 million last year after accepting a qualifying offer from the New York Mets.
With the bright lights that New York comes with, the depth Walker provides will be overshadowed by the Twin Towers: Aaron Judge and Stanton. Walker brings a solid bat
